Task 7 - Territorial connectivity, exploitation and consumption of biological resources: integrative synthesis
Coordinator: Carlos Fabião
B-Roman is a deeply interdisciplinary project bringing together researchers from different fields, using distinct methodologies, producing and managing large sets of zooarchaeological, archaeobotanical and isotopic data as well as archaeological and historical information. In this sense, bioarchaeological analyses and interpretations will serv e as tools to acquire and interpret evidences in what is basically an archaeological and historical investigation. This investigation addresses the incorporation of new socioeconomic and territorial models in western Iberia under the Roman rule and, more specifically, the role biological resources played in it. As such, in order to truly advance our knowledge of this historical process and, at the same time, produce relevant and consequential scientific outputs, the great array of information that will be obtained through B-Roman will have to be combined and interpreted within the framework of a solid historical and archaeological knowledge. Task 7 will serve to bridge the gap between distinct disciplines and investigators, materialized in the previous tasks, and to coalesce the obtained information in order to enhance the project’s reach as well as to increase its historical consistency. |
